Khaki - Uniforms for the border troops of the NVA - 1963
On 15 September 1961 was read in Paetz (command of the border troops) of the Code, the German border police in the area of the Interior (Ministry of Interior) extract and put a border troops of the NVA MfnV (Ministry of National Defence).
The new border troops were thus a part of the NVA. The khaki uniforms were worn only once more. In May 1962 a decision was made to dress the members of the border troops in stone-gray uniforms, similar to the NVA. With the launch of the first stone-gray uniforms was started in November 1963, first with the change of output and parade uniforms. In the service sector, existing stocks of clothing chambers were applied. At that time, the so-called transition period, khaki uniforms were worn with the new gray stone pieces sometimes combined. This also applies to the securities. It was therefore possible that an officer was wearing a gray stone-service jacket and a ski mask and khaki-colored khaki pants. It is also possible for teams with khaki fatigues effects was stone gray. Furthermore, there are no rules. This was in the border companies managed so dependent on the remaining stocks.
the end of 1964 then, the new clothes of the border troops have been completed. Chance are still Drillichuniformen Khaki colored black to serve in fleet or to the employment service has been taken. Mid-60s but then was the appearance of the landmark gray.
to the one shown here is ticking for a piece of the German border police, used with MDI 1961st The collar patches are but even the stone-gray, modeled on the NVA. Also interesting is the cap, it is no longer manufactured in the section of the German border police, but has been on the typical army section, which was kept so until the year 1990. Since it was still made of khaki cloth, it can be assigned to 1962/63. The ensemble shown here is a typical transition Uniform the years 1962-1964. A normal appearance of these years of transition. Partly on khaki fatigues no Lapels were born.
