Naoya Hatakeyama among the most important Japanese photographers of our time. The photographs in this book are of limestone quarries, lime plants and cement factories. In about thirty scattered locations in Japan, ranging from Haikkido to Okinawa. The images of factories which are often taken at dusk or dawn were acting partly like lunar landscapes and prehistoric scenes. Hatakeyama's interest lies predominantly of architectural photography, which is led by an almost archaeological interest.
